There is a new and exciting year ahead of us!
We hope all of you have safely arrived in the new year 2026. We are excited to announce that our field workshop season will begin at the start of February with a visit to Lake Millstatt. Also, we plan some surprises for you, like the introductory series "Meet the Zooplankton" over the course of the year. So, stay tuned.

General Assembly in Brussels
As part of the last activities for 2025 the consortium gathered in Brussels for a week to hold the General Assembly as well as work together on the fundamental designs of the Biohybrid to come. We look forward to more constructive workshops in the new year and are excited to reach our set milestones. With this we wish all of you happy holidays and a good start into the new year!

The Graz-Universities Young Inventors Fair

BlueBoat tests at Auster Public Pool
On October, 30th 2025 we conducted a workshop for testing of enhanced BlueBoat functionality at Auster Freibad . This large outdoor public swimming pool is located in the western part of the city of Graz. Its bassins are closed for swimmers during the winter break. We are greatly thankful to the pool operator team of Holding Graz Freizeit for this opportunity! Biohybrids and Boats
The new BlueBoat was successfully launched at Lake Millstatt and found fans among the visitors of the Altweibersommer-event. The biohybrid was successfully deployed in the Lake where it will gather animal behaviour and water quality data until its retrieval. We look forward to the results and will keep you in the loop.

ÖBF - Altweibersommer Celebration
The team from Uni-Graz got invited to the Altweibersommer - event of the Österreichische Bundesforste (ÖBF) at Lake Millstatt and three team members were happy to join the celebration. This opportunity was also used for some experiments and testing in the field as well as presenting the project to interested guests of the event. Nikolaus Helmer introduced the BioDiMoBot - Project as well as the future of biohybrids. Johannes Diebold presented the BlueBoat, showcasing the goal

First look at the organisms caught on camera
Some of the older data were analyzed by hand and annotated as best possible. The plankton was grouped in categories and thus only roughly identified. But we managed to get various Daphnia and Bosminidae, at least one fish larva, multiple Copepods and one Leptodora kindtii on film, further-more there are sightings of organisms we think to be rotifers.
