BioDiMoBot at the Technologie Forum Millstatt 2026

BioDiMoBot partner UniGraz at the Technologie Forum on emerging technologies and ecosystem monitoring.
The Technologie Forum Millstatt (TechForum), organised by TU Wien, brings together researchers from Austrian universities with representatives from industry, public administration, and research funding organisations to discuss emerging technologies and foster new collaborations. Held from 7–10 June 2026 in Millstatt, this year's forum focused on high-tech innovation, including robotics, artificial intelligence, and environmental technologies. BioDiMoBot was represented by Wiktoria Vogrin from the University of Graz, who participated in the Water session.
Wiktoria presented the BioDiMoBot project with a particular focus on its approach to long-term aquatic biodiversity and water quality monitoring. The presentation highlighted how integrated sensing technologies can support freshwater ecosystem assessment and sustainable environmental management, while introducing the project to potential research and industry partners.
She also joined a thematic panel discussion on aquatic monitoring and environmental sensing, where experts discussed current monitoring technologies, the regulatory framework for water monitoring, and the challenges of translating research innovations into practical applications.
The discussions identified several opportunities for future collaboration, particularly in long-term freshwater monitoring, aquaculture, and biodiversity assessment. Participants also explored how ecological expertise, sensor development, and environmental management can be better integrated to develop monitoring solutions that are both scientifically robust and practical for end users.
Beyond the scientific programme, the forum provided valuable opportunities for networking and outreach. Participants attended a live podcast hosted by Martin Puntigam, which encouraged informal discussion between researchers and the wider audience. A networking hike starting from Lammersdorfer Hütte further facilitated conversations with researchers, industry representatives, and policymakers in a relaxed setting, helping establish new contacts and explore future collaboration opportunities for the BioDiMoBot project.
