BioDiMoBot at OCEANOISE 2026: Advancing the Future of Soundscape Monitoring

In late May, the BioDiMoBot project strengthened its international reach as Moritz Mallach, scientist at the University of Graz, joined the OCEANOISE 2026 conference in Vilanova i la Geltrú, Spain. Held from May 25th to 29th, this event served as a global hub focused on underwater sound and its effects on marine and aquatic environments.

The week-long conference fostered an exchange of knowledge, bringing together a diverse, multi-sectoral community that included leading academic researchers, industry representatives, environmental regulators, and NGOs. Sessions covered marine soundscapes, animal behaviour, environmental management, and the acoustic impacts of offshore renewable energy, among other subjects. These discussions highlighted current challenges and developments in aquatic acoustic monitoring and contributed to the conference's final Declaration.

For BioDiMoBot, which is actively pioneering autonomous robotic equipment and innovative acoustic sensing systems for long-term aquatic monitoring attending OCEANOISE 2026 provided a vital platform to explore new collaborative synergies. By engaging with experts, the project continues to pave the way for future partnerships that will enhance our insights into ecosystem degradation. Immersing ourselves in these global dialogues ensures that BioDiMoBot remains at the forefront of modern, non-invasive biodiversity monitoring.
